Why ТОВ "ЦЕНТР-ІНВЕСТ-М" keeps two very different windmill sites separate instead of blending them into one generic "Dutch windmills" page.
Why this exists
Most trip-planning content treats Kinderdijk and Zaanse Schans as interchangeable — both are "windmills near Amsterdam," both end up on the same top-10 list, and neither gets the specific detail that would actually help someone choose between them or plan around their real, opposite locations. ТОВ "ЦЕНТР-ІНВЕСТ-М" exists to separate the two honestly: what each one actually is, why they were built for completely different reasons, and the real transit logistics that connect (or don't) to Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
How it was put together
Every historical and mechanical fact on this site — construction dates, UNESCO listing details, named mills and their real functions, drainage mechanics, National Mill Day figures, and public transport routes and durations — was checked against current published sources rather than written from general impression. Where a detail changes seasonally (opening hours, ferry schedules, ticket prices), this guide says so explicitly and points you to the operator's own current information rather than stating a number likely to go stale.
What this guide doesn't do
It doesn't sell tickets, doesn't run tours, and isn't affiliated with Kinderdijk, Zaanse Schans, the Zaans Museum, NS, Waterbus, or any tour operator named on these pages. It also doesn't cover the Netherlands' many other individual historic windmills outside these two sites in any depth — this is deliberately a two-site guide, not a national windmill directory.
